What to bring
 
ESSENTIAL ITEMS


• Small daypack
• Sleeping bag (rated - 10°C limit of comfort)
• Liner for sleeping bag (silk recommended)
• Warm jacket (windproof recommended)
• Waterproof jacket
• Waterproof trousers
• A few pairs of trekking trousers
• A few t-shirts (long sleeve and short sleeve, fast dry,
  merino wool recommended)
• A few warm sweaters or fleeces
• A few pairs of woollen trekking socks
• Underwear
• Long thermal underwear (top and bottom)
• Well-worn in hiking boots
• Water bottles (at least two 1 or 1.5 litre)
• Head torch (with spare batteries)
• Sun hat or cap
• Wool or fleece hat
• Sunglasses
• Sun cream (factor 40 minimum)
• Lip balm with sunscreen
• Small towel
• Personal toiletries (biodegradable products are
  strongly recommended)
• Personal medication
• Anti-bacterial hand gel
• Money (S/.85 Nuevos Soles for fees + for tips + in
  case of emergency)
• A copy of your passport
• A few strong plastic bags to pack your gear and keep it
  waterproof
• Rain cover for your rucksack

PERSONAL MEDICATION KIT


• Band-aid strips
• Blister protection
• Aspirin, Paracetamol, Ibuprofen
• A general antibiotic treatment, antacid tablets, anti
  diarrhoeal and indigestion preparations Discuss this
  with your doctor prior to gaining a prescription
• Cold & Flu suppressant
• Antiseptic solution
• Elastic bandage
• Throat lozenges or sweets
• Electrolyte preparation - good for adding to your
  water bottle for fluid replacing purposes
• A pair of nail scissors and tweezers
• A mild anti-nausea drug if you are concerned about
  motion sickness
